Former Army trumpet player in Portugal, has played in the Symphonic
Army Band and The Military Band of Évora.
Studied trumpet at the Conservatoire of Music in Coimbra, The Trinity College of Music –
London, and at the University of Évora (Classical Music) with
the Teacher Pedro Monteiro!
Luis has played in bands and orchestras all around Portugal, from north to south, from big
bands to classical orchestras and concert bands, as principal Trumpet and soloist, including
dozens of them as a guest artist, some examples are: Banda Filármonica Lyra Barcoucense,
Banda de Mourão, Banda de S.João da Madeira, Banda de Portel, Banda de Nsa Sra de
Machede, Big Band da Vidigueira, Banda dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Alvito, Banda de
Lorvão, The Magic Jazz Band (Co-founder), Banda da Pampilhosa do Botão, Banda da
Pampilhosa da Serra, Banda de Ançã, Orquestra clássica da Universidade de Évora and
many more!
Luis has completed a lot of Masterclasses and courses, as the 1st and 2nd Brass
Masterclass in Taveiro (Portugal) and the 1st Chamber Music course in Fermentelos
(Portugal), the Advanced Wind Band Masterclass of John Packer in Taunton, The Advanced
Wind Band Masterclass 2019 and 2020 in Wellington, and finished in 2019 one year of
Online Course with the Brazilian Trumpeter and international Soloist Flávio Gabriel etc
and has been taught by

Now based in England, Luis is an international soloist with different bands and orchestras or his own Band. Luis is alsob the Lead trumpet at Bertie’s Big Band and The New Groove, Solo Cornet at Phoenix Brass Band, and one of the most required Freelance trumpeters for comercial gigs and studio sessions.
Luis recorded for many Band’s tracks and albums as the Postmodern Jukebox UK, Nederveen, Marie
Therese, Easy B, Cláudio Rosário, Céline Musica, José Carvalho and many more. Luis was contacted to produce and record a track for
Scott Fivelson, an Hollywood producer
who produced the movie American Reel, the track is called Uber Time!
In England Luis already played as Principal Trumpet of the Taunton Concert Band, Lead Trumpet with Groove-a-Licious (funk/soul
band), 1st trumpet/soloist with the Wednesday Classical Orchestra, Lead trumpet/soloist
with the Tone Big Band, 1st Trumpet with the Somerset County Orchestra, Trumpet with the
Big Noise Street Band, freelance with The Motown Gold Band from Earcandy
(Award-winning Band), the Regal Theatre pit orchestra, has played 5 times live at the
BBC Radio, Freelance with the artist Miguel Muziq, Lead Trumpet with the Deane Big Band and Solo Trumpet with the Skaravan Club.
Luis performed solo in a lot of different countries, as Switzerland, Luxembourg,
Portugal, England and Jersey, Spain and Wales.

Luis is a Lecturer in many Brass conferences as last year in Croatia and recently in Portugal, and also Teaches Masterclasses paired with his Solo Tours with his own Band or different orchestras around the world.

Luis is Silver Medal winner at the Global Music Awards 2022 for best instrumentalist and Best band, and in 2021 for best album with “All of Me” in the Jazz category. Luis also Won the Silver Medal as world’s 2nd best Emerging Artist 2021 .

Recently Awarded by the High Sheriff of Somerset, the Queen’s representative, with the Citizen’s Award, and also the Medal of Cultural Merit and a Vote of praise by the Portuguese Government.

His versatility, unique sound and character make him one of the new generation most acclaimed trumpeters.

In 2022 Luis is also touring “Aquarelas”, a show featuring his own band and the longest serving Carlotta Gudicelli in the history of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera in the West End, the fabulous Lara Martins
