Christmas wishes at Firs Nursing Home in Taunton

Christmas at Firs Nursing Home in Taunton!

What an exciting ” joyous” time we have had during the month of December at Firs Nursing Home in Taunton.

We started the month of December with decorating our home.  Marion our lovely housekeeper was so busy decorating our home with lovely shades of gold, silver, red and green ready for Christmas. Sparkly tinsel, glittery baubles and festive trees certainly make it feel a lot more like Christmas!

We would like to say a massive thank you to Joshua Enright for kindly donating us a beautiful real tree.  Our residents really enjoyed decorating it.  They used tinsel, glittery baubles, shiny beads all in shades of blues, pinks, greens, reds, silvers – every colour of the rainbow! To finish the tree off, our carer,  Clare bought each resident a personalised tree decoration.  These were made by 2 little boys have been making to raise money for a charity called the rainbow children’s trust.  Head over to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/thefirsnursinghome for pictures and the video

We are over the moon, our visiting booth is built and ready to accept visitors when back at our home, yay!

Our handyman has been so busy putting it together along with Jo, Betty and Theresa who helped paint and decorate it.  Doesn’t it look great!

Massive thank you to ABC Carpentry, CRS and Jewson for kindly donating us the materials, we are so grateful for your help.

Unfortunately, as from Monday 4th January 2021 following government guidelines to keep your loved ones, our staff and all visitors safe, we have sadly closed our doors once again to visitors due to the rapid increase of the virus.  Our doors are closed until further notice.  We will keep you fully updated on a regular basis.

Here at Firs we know how hard it can be for both you and your loved ones but we have done so well so far in keeping this virus out of our home and we aim to keep it that way.  Keeping everyone safe is very important to us.

Please remember no fresh flowers.  Only items that can be sterilised.  Food must be brand new unopened in the original packaging.

Please book in with Jo for a skype call, Facebook chat or a WhatsApp video call as keeping in touch with your loved ones.  This is very important to us and our residents.

Christmas with Dunelm  www.facebook.com/DunelmUK

Wow what a great local community we have! Dunelm set up a “deliver joy this Christmas” initiative for our local community to buy a gift for care home residents.  This included local primary school children and refugees.  Each resident had a tag hung on the tree with their wish for Christmas.  We were overwhelmed with the love and joy our residents received this Christmas.  Particularly when Dunelm  delivered bags of Christmas presents. Thank you! We hope all the staff at Dunelm and their customers have a great Christmas, from all of us at the firs!
